Report of the Governing Council of the Asian and Pacific Centre for the Development of Disaster Information Management on its fourth session

The fourth session of the Governing Council of the Asian and Pacific Centre
for the Development of Disaster Information Management (APDIM) was held in
Islamabad on 20 February 2020, hosted by the National Disaster Management
Authority of Pakistan. The Council addressed programmatic, administrative and
financial issues. The Council endorsed the report on the activities of APDIM since
its third session and noted with appreciation the final ratification of the host country
agreement. The Council endorsed the report on the administrative and financial
status of the Centre and encouraged members and associate members to mobilize
financial and/or in-kind support for the Centre. The Council endorsed the Centre’s
programme of work for 2020 and requested that APDIM develop a multi-year
strategic programme of work to be submitted for approval at the fifth session of the
Council. The Council noted the recommendations of the high-level expert meeting
on disaster information management, held in Islamabad on 19 and 20 February 2020,
and suggested that these be included in the Centre’s programme of work and
activities.
The Council endorsed the recommendations in the review of the Centre,
which was commissioned by the secretariat of the Economic and Social Commission
for Asia and the Pacific, pursuant to its resolution 71/11, adopted in 2015.
The Council expressed its appreciation to the Government of the Islamic
Republic of Iran for its voluntary commitment and continuing generous financial
contributions and expressed its appreciation to the government of Macao, China,
and the Government of Cambodia for their additional voluntary cash contributions
to APDIM. The Council expressed its appreciation for the expression of interest
made by the Government of Turkey to host the fifth session of the Council. The
Council extended its gratitude to the Government of Pakistan for hosting its fourth
session and its generous hospitality.
