APDIM Governing Council Concludes Its Tenth Session in India

APDIM’s Governing Council meeting just concluded its 10th session in India. APDIM’s updated Strategic Multi-Year Programme for 2026-2030, and deliverables for 2026 were endorsed by Council members placing stronger focus on national risk data governance, knowledge sharing, peer learning and targeted capacity building, as well as continued engagement on transboundary regional cooperation.  APDIM extends sincere thanks to the Ministry of Home Affairs, State Minister Shri Nityanand Rai and National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) of INDIA for hosting the 10th Session of its Governing Council and looks forward to working with India as the new Chair of the Council.   APDIM's Governing Council meets once a year and is composed of nine member States, eight of which are elected on a three-year mandate by the 53 ESCAP member states. Current Governing Council members are: Bangladesh; India; The Islamic Republic of Iran; Kazakhstan; Macao, China; Maldives; Mongolia, Pakistan and Türkiye. Eight council members plus observer participants from the Government of Tajikistan and the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) attended the 10th Session. Warm thanks are extended also to the Islamic Republic of Iran, the outgoing Chair of the Council, for its leadership over the past year, for its generous financial contributions to APDIM and for hosting APDIM in Tehran.
